After the disappointment of not racing at the Albins Off Road Gear Goondiwindi 400 due to weather it has given those at SMU Racing with nothing better to do an opportunity to launch the SMU Racing website before they prepare to sail for the Performance Metals Tasmanian Sand Enduro.

SMU Racing is pleased to be able to launch their new website, smuracing.com.au, which will give the team an opportunity to keep up with the latest team news and give sponsors some valuable airtime. Packed with all the latest team information, awesome pics, and merchandise, the SMU Racing website gives all lovers of SMU an opportunity to be kept up to date.

With the Performance Metals Sand Enduro fast approaching, team driver Matt Hanson was excited at the prospect of heading to the sand dunes of St Helens Tasmania, where it was another opportunity to get some valuable miles into the new SMU Racing Jimco as the team prepares for the 2012 Australian Off Road Championship season.

“The team was disappointed not to run at Goondiwindi given the effort to get the car there, but at the end of the day no one can influence the weather. Our hearts went out to the organisers who had put in a year of work only to see rain take away their event again.”

“Tasmania is an event we are very excited about and personally one that I have always wanted to race. 500kms in the sand will be a great work out for the SMU Jimco and give us a chance to keep fine tuning the car before pulling it down at the end of the year in preparation for 2012.”

The event will no doubt be a hotly contested race with some very talented local sand drivers. The race will be run over Saturday the 5th and Sunday the 6th of November.

Matt added, “some members of our team are that excited about racing in Tasmania we are not sure if they will be able to sleep before the big race. For SMU Racing Head of Pit Crew Daren Wells, it is yet another track where past glories can be relived given his successes back in the 80s and for navigator Leigh ‘Gettin it Done’ Wells, it is his first time overseas and he already has his passport ready to go….it should be an interesting weekend!”

Follow all that is going on smuracing.com.au or keep up to date on Facebook.
