The first round of the Australian Off Road Championship at Sea Lake this weekend is the first time the Cowie brothers, Rob and Wes, of the Move Yourself Racing Team will be racing against each other in the same class.

Unfortunately family stalwart, Dad Bill, couldn’t sit on the fence in the brothers’ battle as he’ll be navigating for Wes in the twin seater Jimco #102 while Rob takes the reins of the #192 single seat machine.

1389b_sm “Needless to say there has been laps and laps of shed racing and plenty of trash talking” commented Rob Cowie. “We are all real excited to line up on Sunday; with such a large field it will be a great day’s racing.”

Wes added “all jokes aside, we are looking for a one and two ProLite class finish and ultimately on the podium with either of us on top.”

However, with the calibre of competition in the ProLite class, it will certainly be a tall order for Wes and Rob, but a challenge the brothers both welcome.

1389d_sm Rob recently raced the Richard Bennett Memorial Enduro two weeks ago as a shake down for this weekend which raised a couple of gremlins that have now been sorted. Rob was more than happy with the addition of his 6 speed sequential gearbox and how the car performed in general, and certainly has a confidence boost from the outcome of that event.

Wes’ last race was the Flinders 400 where he and Bill had a strong finish. The team confident heading to Sea Lake for a strong result and going on their previous performances and the reliability of the car, they certainly have a good chance for a top podium finish.
