The SR Racing team last competed at Finke in 2011 and, after failing to finish the run to Finke with axle failure, took a twelve month break to reassess, develop and modified the off road machine.
The SR Racing Jimco Pro buggy underwent modifications to enable the fitment of an upgraded Confydne Motors V6 Nissan engine along with a torque converter to improve the package.
Ian said these changes and improvements are aimed at improved performance and reliability.
Shannon added “we’re really looking forward to getting back in the car and back to the sport. Hopefully our luck will change this year. We have not had a trouble free run at Finke since 2006, surely the odds are getting better… fingers crossed”.
The SR Racing teams aim for 2012 is to add to their tally of Finke Desert Race titles and regain the Australian Off Road Championship crown.
