Rob MacCachren Has Plenty To Talk About On Tonight’s Wind Tunnel After Taking the Overall Win at the
SCORE San Felipe Challenge of Champions

MasterCraft Racing campaigned two Jimco Trophy Trucks in San Felipe

ROCKSTAR Energy Drink’s Rob MacCachren’s first place starting position in yesterday’s SCORE San Felipe Challenge of Champions was great news, but desert racing fans speculated whether his fractured clavicle would hurt the chances of their favorite racer over San Felipe’s brutal terrain.  Rob MacCachren silenced any questions about his health by posting a four hour, twelve minute finish time at the Challenge of Champions to take the overall win.  This is the same course that MacCachren won on earlier this season, but even with his injury Rob Mac was actually five minutes faster this weekend in his No. 20 ROCKSTAR Energy Drink / MasterCraft Safety SCORE Trophy Truck.

The fresh air helped MacCachren initially, but after Tavo Vildosola got past Rob and co-driver, Cisco Bio, while fueling at Race Mile 108, he had to deal with dust until regaining the lead for good 90 miles later.  “We had no flats from the BFGoodrich Tires today, and the Jimco Trophy Truck worked flawlessly,” MacCachren commented after besting the 13 other SCORE Trophy Trucks and 12 Class 1 cars at yesterday’s race.  “The biggest factor in San Felipe is shock setup due to the huge whoops, and Fox has worked with us to get our Jimco truck dialed in perfectly.”

Rob MacCachren beat all comes to win his second race in San Felipe in a row

MacCachren’s latest victory has heated up the 2011 SCORE season points race after claiming the overall win at the inaugural running of the San Felipe Challenge of Champions.  MacCachren now sits only six points behind Bryce Menzies with only the Baja 1000 remaining in the SCORE season in November.  Die hard MacCachren fans are quick to point out that Rob Mac has won the Baja 1000 five times, including the punishing 1296 mile run down the Mexican peninsula at the 2007 SCORE Baja 1000, making his chances of winning a ninth SCORE series class championship very good.  MacCachren’s victory, along with his pending induction into the Off Road Motorsports Hall of Fame, are certain to be topics of discussion when Rob Mac appears live on Wind Tunnel with Dave Despain tonight at 9 PM Eastern / 6 PM Pacific on the SPEED Channel.
MacCachren’s teammate, Robbie Pierce, was running as high as second place in SCORE’s marquee Trophy Truck class when a broken front suspension arm dashed his hopes of reaching the podium.  Gustavo Vildosola’s team was gracious enough to loan a much needed welder and assist in the repair of the No. 30 ROCKSTAR Energy Drink / Impact by MasterCraft Safety Jimco truck and get the truck moving after spending six hours on course in Huatamote Wash and Race Mile 192.

Suspension woes took Robbie Pierce out of contention in San Felipe

After his appearance on Dave Despain’s Wind Tunnel Rob MacCachren heads straight to Chicagoland Speedway on September 14th and 15th for the next Traxxas TORC short course race; another series where MacCachren is battling former protégé Bryce Menzies for yet another season championship.  Then Rob jumps out of his Traxxas RAM and into his ROCKSTAR Energy Drink Pro2 Unlimited truck to race in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series at Speedworld in Arizona on September 24th and 25th.  Race fans can follow MacCachren’s packed race schedule on his Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/21RobMac.
