Travis Robinson and Paul Currie are on track for a back to back Kickstarters Gascoyne Dash blitzing the field of 35 starters at the Coonartha end of the event. Robinson finished with a 6m:42s margin over locals Justin Steadman and Saxton Boston, although their race didn’t go without dramas, encountering a closed gate on the course. Paul Currie said … “Trav took this challenge in his stride and applied his own gate opening style.”South Australians Andrew and Matthew Kittle rounded out the day 1 podium 15:15 in arrears.20 of the 35 starters entries clocked in full race distance with some notable DNF’s including David Fellows and Mark Bergamin #1, almost making it to the finish line but not quite and were reportly making up time on the Robinson car before being tracksided, Jack Rhodes and Beau Robinson #85, Eric and Neil Phillips #96 and the fellow Ballistic Racing team car Steven Phillips and Joel Gibbs #996.
The unforgiving Dash track took its toll in the first section with at least 12 cars expired before the Lyons River Crossing.
